Restricted: NO RESTRICTIONS OBJECTIVES: The sponsor provides support for research in the humanities or social sciences on the relationship between Austria and Hungary in collaboration with Austrian and Hungarian specialists. The award is open to all fields/topics, provided that proposals have a strong bilateral Austrian-Hungarian or regional emphasis, including, but not limited to, the arts, economics, ecology, European integration, EU expansion, geography, history (1526-present), and political science. Research must involve a two-month residency in Austria and a two-month residency in Hungary. RESTRICTIONS: Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens and have a Ph.D. or equivalent professional/terminal degree at the time of application. College or university teaching experience at the level and in the field of the proposed lecturing activity as specified in the award description are required.. Previous Fulbright scholar grantees are eligible to apply only if three years will have elapsed between the ending date of one scholar award and the beginning date of the new scholar award. This rule does not apply if the previous grant was less than two months. Persons residing abroad for five or more consecutive years in the six-year period preceding the date of application are ineligible. The award is $1,700 per month for four months. An allowance of $100 per month for one dependent and $200 per month for two or more dependents who accompany the grantee for at least eighty percent of the grantee period is provided. The host country provides a housing allowance of up to 45,000 forints (HUF) per month and living allowance of up to 20,000 forints per month. Grantees are reimbursed for round-trip airfare up to $2,000, plus a settling-in allowance of $300. Research may be in English, German, and/or Hungarian, as commensurate with the project.
