I too agree that we're in desperate need of more scholarship on the subject of women writers and war. However, I'd also like to recommend (off the top of my head - I don't have the publishing info at hand) two books dealing specifically with the First World War: Claire M. Tylee's _The Great War and Women's Consciousness_ (1990) and Sharon Ouditt's _Fighting Forces, Writing Women_ (1994?). Thanks Daragh Russell
