Samuel V. Noe Colloquium on the Historical Development and Planning of Islamic Cities Invitation to Participate The University of Cincinnati School of Planning College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning invites you to participate in the Samuel V. Noe Colloquium on the Historical Development and Planning of Islamic Cities November 7, 2006 Samuel V. Noe, a founding member of the faculty of the School of Planning, died on March 4, 2006. One of Sam's academic interests was the historical development and planning of Islamic cities, especially in Turkey and Indonesia. In honor and recognition of Sam's contributions to the University of Cincinnati School of Planning and planning education in general we have scheduled a colloquium that we believe will be timely and of interest to many in planning education and other disciplines. Dr. Taner Oc, Director Institute of Urban Planning, University of Nottingham, UK, will lead the colloquium. We invite your participation in the following ways: Attendance at the colloquium or submission of an abstract of a paper for presentation at the colloquium or later publication in an edited volume on the subject. Two or three papers will be selected for presentation and the remainder will be considered for chapters in a publication. The colloquium has been scheduled to coincide with the 2006 Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning conference so that individuals, especially those from outside the United States, may schedule their travel to attend both events. For general information about the Samuel V. Noe Colloquium on the Historical Development and Planning of Islamic Cities please e-mail Professor Jay Chatterjee (jay chatterjee@uc.edu) or Thomas Wagner (thomas.wagner@uc.edu). Those persons wishing to submit an abstract for presentation or to be included in the publication should e-mail it to Professor Michael Romanos (michael.romanos@uc.edu). The mailing address for all three contact persons is School of Planning, College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio 45221-0073.
