Greetings, The Research Cooperative network currently has almost 3,000 members representing most regions of the world, and a wide range of languages. Our aim is to help research get published -- through more effective communication between all the people involved in the writing and publishing process (researchers, editors, proofreaders, translators, illustrators, and publishers). New communication technology has allowed any individual to almost instantaneously start a new journal or other form of publication. The exponential increase in online publications has not been matched by an exponential increase in the human support networks needed by publishers. The mismatch between publishing initiatives and publishing resources is unprecedented in the history of science. The Research Cooperative is possibly the first and only social network aimed directly at this problem. We invite all members of the H-SCI-MED-TECH listserv to visit our site and consider joining. See: http://researchcooperative.org Our network may be of special use for people involved in cross-disciplinary research, and for the study of the history of science, medicine and technology in diverse social and linguistic contexts. The network will also be useful for the organisers of conferences where contributors come from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Publishing the results of such conferences typically involves a lot of translation and editing work.
