Hello! One of the other books you could try is _Alexander Dolgun's Story: An American in the Gulag, by Alexander Dolgun, publ. Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1975, ISBN: 0-394-49497-0. An interesting feature of this book is the chart which shows the alpha-numerical code prisoners used to tap messages from one cell to another. Hope this helps!
