Hallo, here are some studies and discussions on the case: S. Lyandres: The 1918 Attempt on the Life of Lenin: A New Look at the Evidence. , Slavic Review Vol. 48 (1989), No. 3, pp. 432-448. G. Nilov: Pokushenie na Lenina. In Stolitsa No. 33 (1991), pp. 48-57 and No. 34(1991), pp.34-37. E. Danilov: V cheii ruki byl braouning? Sovershenno sekretno 3(1991), pp.12-14. Delo 2162. (Interview with A. Litvin) Sobesednik 42 (1991), p. 3. Scott B. Smith: Who shot Lenin? - in: Jahrbücher für Geschichte Osteuropas / N.F. 46.1998 - pp. 100-119. Iurii G. Fel'shtinskii: Taina smerti Lenina, Voprosy istorii 1 (1999), pp. 34-63 (Transl.: The Mystery of Lenin's Death. in. Russ. Studies in History 42/3 (2003/04). pp. 26-76. (As well in the same author's book: Vozhdi v zakone. Terra, Moskva 2008, Chapter Zagovor chetvertyi. Lenin i Sverdlov) Galina Zapozhnikova: V Lenina nikto ne vstrelal? (Did nobody shoot at Lenin? interview with Polina Dashkova) Komsomol'skaia pravda, 1.7.08. It seems to me that the contribution by Scott B. Smith (1998) is the best founded on archival sources and most comprehensive in discussing the literature. Scott B. Smith shortly deals with the speculations on the Sverdlov-Connection refuting it as one of the multitude of myths around this event. If you are looking for more speculations and conspiracy theories, you probably could find enough of that in the publications of Fel'shtinskii. In her 2008 interview Polina Dashkova, prominent author of Russian detectiv novels, claims that she has detected , there hasn't been any attempt on Lenin at all in 1918, what was probably a good pr gag for her new detective novel dealing on that event on some pages. Best wishes Benno Ennker -- Dr. Benno Ennker Audifax-Str. 13 78315 Radolfzell / Bodensee
