Anyone who believes in social justice should fill out the cards, whether they pledge $5 or $5000- neighbors, relatives, even local merchants. What Adams Mark did in Orlando threatens everyone . Mark February 1, 2000 To: David Montgomery, President, Organiztion of American Historians Executive Council, Organization of American Historians I urge the Organiztion of American Historians to cancel its contract with the Adams Mark Hotel and move its 93rd Annual Convention to alternate sites. I pledge $___________ to help protect the OAH from possible penalties that might result if it severs its relationship with an organization that has been accused of and found responsible for egregious violations of the rights and dignity of its African american employees and customers. The Organization of American Historians has a long and honorable record of opening opportunities for women and people of color in the historical profession. Let us not compromise its integrity by meeting in a hotel which has a documented history of discrimination and that is part of the only hotel chain which has ever been sued by the U.S. Justice Department for violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ____________________________ name and professional affiliation cc.
