For any question, please contact Claudine Pommier at steinpom@shaw.ca Synopsis Viye Diba, a Senegalese artist living in Dakar, says himself that he is not an African artist, but a modern artist living in Africa. His work has evolved from small format paintings to 3 dimensional works to increasingly large metaphorical installations. Viye Diba's artistic discourse goes beyond a mere aesthetic expression. Whether it explores the mysteries of communication, or through the use of raw and recycled materials, raises environmental, social or political questions, his work explores the vital role of Art and cannot be ignored. -- H-MUSEUM H-Net Network for Museum Professionals E -Mail: h-museum@h-net.msu.edu WWW: http://www.h-museum.net
