------------------------------------------------------- Dear Colleagues, I am working with an institution that has been offered an artifact on the condition that the museum pay for the appraisal. I know this is considered unethical, but my curiosity is now piqued -- have other institutions done this? Does anyone know of an ethics policy or other written reference to support the idea of it being an unethical practice? I didn't find anything in the AAM Code of Ethics. Many thanks.
