I recall seeing various citations in the 19th and early 20th century to "los primos del norte" as well . . . and my favorite, which Cheryl Martin mentions in her research is usage in the early 19th cent. colonial Chihuahuan records to "Espanol de Inglaterra" for what we today call "Anglo".
