Enviado el: martes, 19 de marzo de 2002 07:40 Neteros, I agree with all that has been said about the Americas series, that it is an awesome teaching tool due to the images and stories, yet sometimes needs to be reset in historical context. The interest in this series surely indicates that a new version would be successful, though I can't imagine one without Raul Julia. I write to share a recognition that in the past several years I have noticed that students have difficulty sitting through 50 minutes of documentary. Believe it or not, they are more likely to doze off during a film than a lecture. The social causes of this are interesting to muse over: has the (video) world sped up so much that young folks require rapid bombardment of images to maintain interest in the medium? Anyone seen cartoons recently? As a practical matter, I've taken to showing the Americas videos in 15-20 minute sections, reserving the balance of the hour for discussion. Let's push for an updated Americas series! saludos, Rick Warner Assistant Professor of History Wabash College
