McCartin Associate Professor of History, Georgetown University With Comments by: Mackenzie Baris DC Jobs with Justice & Kenneth Moffett Labor Arbitrator-Mediator Joseph McCartin is Associate Professor of History at Georgetown University, is author of "Labor's Great War" (winner of the 1999 Taft Prize for best Book in US Labor History) and co-editor of "American Labor: A Documentary Collection". A former community and labor organizer, his articles and essays have appeared in numerous publications including, Labor History, U.S. Catholic Historian, Dissent, and Labor: Studies in Working-Class History of the Americas. Mackenzie Baris, a 2001 graduate of Yale University, has been the lead organizer of DC Jobs with Justice, a labor-community coalition, since 2002. She has worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Communitarian Policy Studies at George Washington University and is currently co-chair of the Social Concerns committee at St. Aloysius Church in Washington, DC. Kenneth Moffett is currently a Labor Arbitrator-Mediator in the DC area. He is Former Director of the Federal Mediation Service, Assistant to the President/Broadcast Employees, Communication Workers of America, and Executive Director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, Executive Secretary of the US Atomic Energy Labor Relations panel, and Staff Representative of United Mine Workers, District 50.
