As I have watched the correspondence that has emanated from the reading of Ozick's recent piece, it surprises me that no one (including Ozick herself) has mentioned Philip Roth's rather extraordinary rendering in "The Ghostwriter" of the Anne Frank who never died, but rather lived to see what had been done to her diary. In some ways it has been, to my mind, the most imaginative response to the phenomenon of the play and the movie. And this novella is rich in a number of other ways. I recommend it highly. best, robert abzug Robert H.
