I believe it is appropriate to announce the publication of the following:
Robert
Lichtman and Ronald Cohen, DEADLY FARCE: HARVEY MATUSOW AND THE INFORMER SYSTEM
IN THE MCCARTHY ERA (Univ. of Illinois Press, 2004). We discuss in detail
Matusow's rise and fall as an ex-communist witness, particularly focusing on
the
role of the Justice Department in using witnesses in various capacities.
