Hello, I have received the following message about volunteer opportunity for Hausa and other foreign languages' speakers. Interested people may contact Rebecca Stakun (see below). Abdou. Lionbridge is currently recruiting Charter Members for a National Language Service Corps (NLSC). The NLSC offers individuals with language expertise the opportunity to help their neighbors and fellow citizens by participating in national and state efforts, particularly in times of emergency or crisis when their expertise can truly make a difference. The mission of the NLSC is to recruit a readily-available pool of individuals who have expertise in languages that are important to national security and welfare. These volunteers can be called upon in time of need to use their interpreting and translating skills to help others in the United States and around the world during short-term projects. All of the projects can be accepted or declined based on the volunteer's ability. Although it is a volunteer organization, some compensation will be provided. The basic requirements are: -U.S. Citizenship -18 years of age or older -Must possess ILR 3/3/3 Proficiency in a foreign language and English (Lionbridge will determine this) If this is something that you are interested in, please let me know! Also, if you happen to know others who speak Hausa feel free to pass along my information.
