I've been forwarded a question from John Oladipupo, student of Linguistics at University of Ilorin in Nigeria, concerning the history of Fulfulde orthography for an assignment to critique the orthography. My only available information at this time is that of the UNESCO expert meetings, notably the one in Bamako, 1966, that specifically address several languages including Fulfulde (the latter has a chart for the language - see http://www.bisharat.net/Documents/Bamako1966.htm). I understand that he is interested particularly in the orthography development in Nigeria (though the orthography there is much the same as for Fulfulde/Pulaar elsewhere in the region), which has a connection with the Centre for the Studies of Nigerian Languages, Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. Can anyone help with further information, esp. digital? Thanks in advance.
