Dear readers, I'm not going to give you a long sales pitch about helping out H-Net. You're probably too busy deleting spam and viruses, and e-mail is not a good medium for long, tedious, carefully thought out and carefully constructed arguments. We can't have a pledge break either, and threaten not to bring the messages back until we get some more money pledged. And you already got a message from me about the fact that H-Net can take donations now. If you haven't read it, go back and do so. I know it's long, and most people don't like long e-mail messages, but it's important. Each of you knows how much these lists mean to you. They all mean a lot to all of us. Just figure out what it is worth to you, in monetary terms, to have access to the resources and information H-Net and the H-Net lists (and the job board, and the reviews, and all of it). Then double that figure, because there are a lot of people, especially on these lists, who will not be able to contribute, either because they live in a third world country with currency restrictions, or just because they can't afford it. Then contribute that money to H-Net. It costs money to keep these lists and the website going, even if all the editors work for free. We need your help. The donations site is http://www.h-net.org/donations/ You can also contribute by buying your books online through the links on H-Net review pages. sincerely, your editor, John Edward Philips, Hirosaki University <http://human.cc.hirosaki-u.ac.jp/philips/>
