Hello everybody, When in Guinea, I've seen some Fulbe trying to use the "reformed" Adjami based on the recommendations of the workshops in question, but the great majority of the population seems to continue using the "unreformed" version, and books which are published in Adjami in Pulaar in that country use the, mainly, the "unreformed" version too. Nikolai Dobronravin may say more on this question. These workshops advanced proposals for reforming Manding Adjami too, but I've seen no evidence of any impact of these recommendations on the current practice. >I also found a listing at SOAS for a book specifically about Mandinka: >> AUTHOR Addis, R.T. >> TITLE A study on the writing of Mandinka in Arabic script. I have a photocopy of that book, it's a kind of a practical manual for those willing to learn how to write Mandinka Adjami. Don, there is at least two more characters in Mandinka not mentioned in my previous message: - zal with 3 dots above pointed upwards - jim-shaped with 3 dots above pointed upwards (in fact, these two graphemes seem to be allographes in Mandinka, they both are used for "ch", but sometimes also for "j"; in other versions of Adjami, two dots above, one above the other, are used instead of three dots). Valentin Wannan wasik'ar i-mel ce daga H-Hausa, inda za'a cigaba da hira game da harshe da al'adu da tarihi da sauran lamura na Hausawa da mak'wabtansu.
