Thank you, Peter, I'll add them to my list of people working on Ajami. I'd be interested to know more about the proposals that are in -- my perusal of the Unicode site didn't turn up anything I recognized. In the meantime, I've also been corresponding with Valentin Vydrine and Jacob Dyer re their separate projects on Mandinka texts in Ajami. This all started with their trying to determine if Unicode has characters/diacritics they need. I'm not sure what diacritics Jacob is missing (from Valentin's indications and my rough familiarity with Pular Ajami I think I know what at least on or two might be). Maybe these are in the proposals in the pipeline. In addition, Valentin has had trouble finding a font with certain modified Arabic characters - these are in Unicode but the only font I'm aware of that has them is Arial Unicode MS. Unfortunately he doesn't have access to that... The problem of lack of Unicode fonts for Ajami work has been signaled also by John Philips who works on Hausa. So may I ask Bob and Jonathon ... do you have any suggestions re fonts? Thanks in advance! Don Don Osborn firstname.lastname@example.org *Bisharat!
