In response to the quotation in Daniel E Teodoru's message, "China admitted today that it sent 320,000 combat troops to Vietnam to fight against U.S. forces and their South Vietnamese allies...": It is my understanding that the vast majority of these Chinese "troops" stayed in North Vietnam in rear areas and did not engage in actual combat in the South. Current texts that I am aware of agree that over 300,000 Chinese troops were in Vietnam. Tony Edmonds Ball State University
