Dear members, Could anyone help with the following? You may reply to me directly, off-list, if you so desire. 1 - In the 1920s, German military intelligence was one of the agencies responsible for counterintelligence work. What was the exact name of this unit(s) and how did it fit in the Reichswehr organizational structure? (i.e., was it reporting directly to Chief of Staff, etc.) 2 - Are there records of German military intelligence (or any other agency's) operations against foreign espionage in the 1920s available to researchers? (I would think at the Military Archives?) 3 - In secondary literature, I've come across a reference to "the political division of the State Police (Abteilung IA; counterintelligence). Could someone clarify the matter? What was the State Police (was it equivalent to present-day federal police in Germany?) Moreover, what could IA stand for? Any suggestions as to where this organization's records might be located? Many thanks to you all. Sincerely, Victor Madeira Trinity College - University of Toronto Canada
