Sent: Wed 2/13/2008 5:47 PM Subject: FW: Book Launch At New London County Historical Society A new printing of Frances M. Caulkins' classic, HISTORY OF NEW LONDON,Connecticut: From the First Survey of the Coast in 1612 to 1860, has just been released by the New London County Historical Society. Long out of print, the book has always been a valuable research tool for those interested in the history of southeastern Connecticut since the first edition was published in 1852. This new edition is 800 pages in length including Caulkins' 1860 version plus a new introduction and a revised index. There will be a book release reception on Friday 22 February at the Shaw Mansion, 11 Blinman Street, New London, from 5 PM to 7 PM at which copies of the book will be available for $60. Those who donated to the effort will be honored. This edition was made possible in part by a grant from the Connecticut Humanities Council and by a donation from Dr. Patricia Thevenet. Other supporting donations were made in memory of Neild Oldham and of Herbert Davis.
