It's gratifying to know that scholars are actually reading this stuff and even more so that one of your learning and acumen recommends it to a wider audience. I share your dissatisfaction at the lack of notes in crucial places. Indeed, in my other publications, I'm a bit of an annotation freak, and like nothing better than perusing the works of scholars like Etienne Lamotte (though not of course only for the richness of annotation). For the CSL project, notes were not quite absolutely forbidden, but close. I would like to see the editors relax this policy somewhat, but then I would have liked to see the Sanskrit text printed in devanagari. In any case, they considered both issues long and hard before making their decisions. As for the editorial slips--doubly embarrassing since my day job is as an editor--I can only declare "mea culpa." And as for the translation of _caitya-'salaakaa-graha.ne_, I have a vague recollection of struggling to come up with a suitable rendering of _caitya_ in that compound, and fudging it, more out pressure of time and laziness than anything else. I believe the Clay Sanskrit Library should soon be coming out with _Heavenly Exploits_, volume 2, but it won't be my work, as I proved to be too slow a worker for the exigencies of the project. Thank you again.
