We seek someone whose expertise in Islam will also address the religious complexities of either South Asia, Southeast Asia, or Africa in their historical, social, and political contexts. So, for example, a candidate might teach courses on the interactions of Hinduism and Islam or on the history and interactions of Islam with indigenous religious traditions, Buddhism, and/or Christianity in these parts of the world. We especially welcome candidates whose teaching will feature post-colonial/decolonizing approaches.
