With respect to recently published texts for Native History in the Americas, I would like to draw attention to a well-written volume by Canadian historian Olive Patricia Dickason, who authored _Canada's First Nations: A History of Founding Peoples from Earliest Times_, published by U. Oklahoma Press, 1992 (ISBN paperback: 0-8061-2439-3). Dickason's highly regarded book (590 pages) is well illustrated and contains numerous maps. Her perspective allows readers to better comprehend many contemporary political issues in Canada, including Indian land claims. Harald E.L. Prins Professor of Anthropology Kansas State University
