I have a graduate student working primarily in United States history who asked me about finding 18th century sermons and other texts. He researching a project on conceptions of virtue in England during the 1850s and 60s that may be expanded into something more extensive. I had suggested he look at sermons as a source, and he asked how he might search for them. Is there something for 18th century Britain comparable with the Charles Evans Collection of Early American Imprints or Early English Books Online for the prior century? The Evans Collection enables researchers to call up lists of sermons as a category as well as by author or title. Something like that would be quite useful, so I wonder if anyone's come across it. Any separate advice on finding sermons or other 18th century texts also would be most welcome. Will William Anthony Hay Mississippi State University
