Bob, I don't know if this is true but I believe I read somewhere that some IQ researchers went to some remote African tribe, unsullied by exposure to Western Ideas (if such folks exist) and asked them who they considered to be the "smartest" guys in the village and then gave them an IQ test that didn't involve language & reading. Guess what. The "smart guys" scored higher on the test that the "not-smart-guys." If this is true (and I believe I am remembering this correctly) it suggests that IQ is measuring something that is apparent to even people outside of our culture and tradition.
