I do Smartboard training for Dallas Texas, ISD teachers. Our Instructional Technology Department has teachers that serve as trainers for all of the other teachers in the District. These trainings are held after school from 4:30-7:30. I also am responsible for working with the teachers on my campus and our 19 Smartboards. I work with individual teachers on my campus by offering to go into their classrooms and teach a lesson on their Smartboard. This is one way to get the students engaged and excited about the boards. The students then pressure the teacher to use the board. I also do training in our computer lab during the teachers' planning periods so that they are able to stay on campus and get trained. It is very interesting to see what teachers make time to use the boards and which ones always have an excuse not to use them. If you can get them to test the waters by downloading an already made lesson from the Smart Website, that helps the teachers overcome some of their fears. It also helps make the teachers realize how easy it is to work with the Smartboards. I do say that training is very important and it sounds like you are going above and beyond in trying to get the teacher to use the Smartboards. Good luck.
