X-Posted from : H-NET List for Environmental History <H-ENVIRONMENT@H-NET.MSU.EDU> From: Mara Drogan <maradrogan@VERIZON.NET> ------- From: "Steven Anderson" <stevena@duke.edu> Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 1:10 PM Subject: Networking opportunities at ASEH for next year's World Congress Dear All, The March 30 deadline for the paper, panel, and poster submissions for the World Congress of Environmental History in Copehagen, Denmark, is fast approaching. The meeting, hosted by the International Consortium of Environmental History Organizations and Roskilde University, will be August 4-8, 2009. (WWW.WCEH2009.ORG <http://www.wceh2009.org/> ) Next week's ASEH eeting presents an excellent opportunity to network and find panel members or commentators. Suggested subthemes include but are not limited to: * Methods and Approaches in Environmental History * Cross-disciplinary landscapes * Environmental perceptions, ideas and sciences * Traditional knowledge * Historical Geography * Cross geographical and transnational boundaries * Water and watersheds * Agriculture, land-use and landscape histories * Forest history and forest policy * Energy * Atmospheric Sciences and Global Climate * Biodiversity * Disease and Pollution * Environmental History and Education Detailed descriptions of the subthemes may be found at http://www.wceh2009.org, along with the requirements for submission. The Program Committee specifically solicits submissions of new and original work that will foster the sharing of environmental history and advance productive comparisons. Successful panel submissions will have (1) a good empirical foundation and describe one or more case studies that would together enhance a comparative perspective within a session or (2) be of wider relevance for the discipline in terms of development of methods, new sources and approaches. Papers comparing the same theme in various regions as well as those that present different facets of the environmental history of one place (if this research is new and original) will be welcomed. The conference covers all periods of human history. Sincerely, Steve ----------------------------- Steven Anderson, President Forest History Society [CFC #10138] 701 Wm.
