As a filmmaker I have a point of view, an opinion, an observation to make, and an intent to engage the audience as a storyteller. Unfortunately "to entertain" is often regarded as merely synonymous with "to amuse". That is only one definition of many. It is worth googling for the others, but one must include: To consider; contemplate: entertain an idea; and: To hold in mind; harbor: entertained few illusions. As the reviews show, Severe Clear does entertain its audience. What if the filmmaker is the soldier, in action himself, and his intention is not to entertain? Has anyone seen "Severe Clear?" http://severeclearthemovie.com/wordpress/ which seems to be a different kind of film. I have not yet seen it myself. -- Jonathan Beard jbeard@panix.com ----- For subscription help, go to: http://www.h-net.org/lists/help/ To change your subscription settings, go to http://h-net.msu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=h-war -----
