SLATE, one of the oldest news sites on the internet, recently published a 5-part article on how an American staff sergeant named Eric Maddox used social network diagrams to help locate and capture Iraq's Saddam Hussein in 2003. The articles cast Maddox in role familiar in "police procedurals," a type of mystery books, that of the "smart outsider" whom the others on the case do not believe. But Wilson, the reporter, could be right. The photos and diagrams are colorful, too. Perhaps some H-War readers will know how accurate this portrayal is. http://www.slate.com/id/2245228/ -- Jonathan Beard jbeard@panix.com ----- For subscription help, go to: http://www.h-net.org/lists/help/ To change your subscription settings, go to http://h-net.msu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=h-war -----
