I just wanted to slightly correct the extent of territory recaptured by the Germans as a result of this offensive. The Germans did not reach Rostov but reestablished themselves along the Mius river, the jumping-off point for their previous summer offensive in 1942, Fall Blau( Operation Blue ). The most important city the Germans recaptured during this winter counteroffensive was Kharkov.
