Scholar Needed to Write Preface on Douglass and Stowe Call for Papers Date: 2010-04-15 Date Submitted: 2010-02-13 H-Net Announcement ID: 174078 Editor seeks a scholar to write a brief (1000 word) preface to an upcoming study on Frederick Douglass and Harriet Beecher Stowe. The study will deal with the Compromise of 1850 and its reception in the American north. The text will apply a race and gender studies approach with respect to the law in the 19th century. A chapter on Harriet Jacobs may be added. The text will be published by Edwin Mellen Press, and the manucscript is due May 2010.
