I am looking for contributors to write essays on selected topics in the Jacksonian period (roughly defined as 1830-1860). They will be published in a series that looks at American social history from the perspectives of various cohorts of people. The series is intended for general readers, so authors will be expected to write lively, anecdotal, narrative-driven essays (approx. 7,000 words) filled with words, ideas, attitudes and experiences of the specific group. Authors will also be responsible for providing a sidebar (approx. 500 words) focusing on a unique or representative individual in the essay. I am looking for authors to address the following topics: Yeoman farmers Religious groups, including Mormons and evangelical Protestants Public performers (theater, circus, etc.) Cadets and/or soldiers If you have a Ph.D. and are interested in more information, please contact me at m.cheathem@snhu.edu. Thank you, Mark R. Cheathem, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of History Southern New Hampshire University
