Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2013 4:26 AM To: H-NET Discussion List on Oral History Subject: Hebrew University Conference on Oral History We are aware of the discussion regarding the proposed boycott of the oral history division's oral history conference, scheduled to take place in Jerusalem in June 2014. We believe it is for each scholar and researcher to make his or her own decisions regarding this issue. We are inviting the scholarly community to our institution as we believe that this conference will host a participatory site in which "difficult dialogues" on memory and perspectives will be discussed, in particular the issues that this country and region face. We also believe that boycotting the Hebrew University and members of its academic community only serves as a disservice to many individuals, organizations and communities who dedicate their professional and personal life to finding a just resolution to the conflict. Finally, as a matter of clear representation, the place of establishment of the Hebrew University is within the 1967 lines. The university was established in 1925 on lands purchased for its construction and has been within Israel's boarders since 1948. Sincerely Dr. Sharon Kangisser Cohen --
