Greetings list! I am doing research on "Joyce, Junior," a character who appeared mostly in print who was used by American Patriot leaders during the Revolution to intimidate Friends to Government. Most secondary sources I have found claim the character was derived from Cornet George Joyce, a Parliamentarian officer during the English Civil War who arrested Charles I and may have stood on the platform during the execution. However, I cannot locate a primary source for this information and have doubts about this theory. Has anyone come across anything that may shed light on this? Thank you!
