Call for Papers Gulf States Early American History Workshop Hosted by the Department of History, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Spring 2014 The Gulf States Early American History Workshop, hosted by the Department of History at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, invites proposals from scholars wishing to present work in progress during Spring 2014. Papers related to the broad theme of Early American History from the colonial through the early national period in North America, including its engagement with the Atlantic World, are welcome. The workshop seeks to provide a space where innovative, original research may be shared, discussed, and critiqued. By highlighting works in progress, the workshop is intended to foster a sense of community among historians of Early America throughout the Gulf States region and beyond. The workshop meets on Friday afternoons (monthly during the academic year) on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s campus. Our regular members include faculty and graduate students from a variety of Gulf State area institutions. All papers are circulated in advance. Following the discussion from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., participants gather for socializing and dinner at a local restaurant. To propose a paper, please send a brief curriculum vitae and a tentative title along with a 300-word description of the topic to Dr. Kim Todt (todt@louisiana.edu). Proposals from faculty, independent scholars, and graduate students are welcome. For consideration for the Spring 2014 Semester, please send proposals before January 15, 2014.
