Your nursing student might do some searches in the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health (CINAHL) for terms like "midwife," "midwives," and "midwifery." A bit later than your student's period is Laurel Thatcher Ulrich's fine book, A Midwife's Tale: The Life of Martha Ballard, Based on Her Diary, 1785-1812. Ulrich has a couple of index entries under Revolution, American, and her endnotes will be helpful. ------------------------------------------- Thomas Lawrence Long, PhD Associate Professor-in-Residence School of Nursing, University of Connecticut 231 Glenbrook Rd.
