To: John.Saillant@wmich.edu Date: 12 Jun 2002: 1404 From: jgardner@dsc.edu Subject: Early naturalists in America To: H-NET/OIEAHC I was a presenter at the [John] Bartram 300 Symposium in Philadelphia in 1999 and my wife and I attended the recent Andre Michaux International Symposium in Gastonia, NC. We regularly attend programs on the history of natural history at Bartram's Garden and wherever else nearby where there are any. I would like to know of any similar conferences and to hear from other members of H-NET/OIEAHC with an interest in the "Curious" ladies and gentlemen of the 18th and early 19th century. I am an active member of the First Person Interpreters Network of ALHFAM (Association for Living History, Farms and Agricultural Museums) and seriously am considering developing a persona as an 18th century naturalist.
