There is a rather mild scatological example from the famous "bad book case," in which several boys in Jonathan Edwards's parish were disciplined by the church for secretive reading of Aristotle's Masterpiece. According to the records of the case one boy declared that he did not give "a turd" or "a fart" for any of the men on the church discipline committee. Needless to say, the remark was not well received.
