X-Sender: vresnick@ariel.ucs.indiana.edu To: John Saillant <John.Saillant@wmich.edu> Original-recipient: rfc822;john.saillant@vmh.cc.wmich.edu I was taught (AP US and undergrad) that in order to serve in the Second Continental Congress, you had to sign the Declaration of Independence, even if you joined after July 1776. The students in my 100 level US History class were quite taken with John Dickinson, and noticed a comment in our textbook (_Enduring Vision_) that he served in the Congress after July 1776 without signing. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks very much, Victoria Resnick Visiting Instructor of History Indiana University
