To: h-oieahc@H-NET.MSU.EDU Cc: Neil Brody Miller <nmiller@rci.rutgers.edu> I am teaching on short notice the History of Colonial America, an upper-level course I have not previously taught. We are about to make the transition from early colonial-Indian relations to a discussion of the conflicts that occurred within British North American colonies in the late-17th and early-18th centuries. I'd appreciate any suggestions for materials dealing with conflicts between royal governors and colonial assemblies, and the process of centralizing royal authority (revoking charters, mercantilism). Material that relates these political and economic issues to cultural issues would be especially appreciated. We're reading Bonomi's The Lord Cornbury Scandal in a few weeks, which gets the class into some of these issues, but I would benefit from some additional materials for use in preparing lectures. My thanks in advance. Neil Miller Department of History Rutgers University, New Brunswick
