In the Jamestown area, if you haven't already seen them, I would think a must are the James River Plantations - Westover, Berkeley (& site of the Berkeley Hundred settlement of 1619), Shirley plus the Westover church on route 5 outside of Williamsburg. Also, relevant to studying Jamestown is the Martin's Hundred excavation at Carter's Grove. More off the beaten path but not of the Jamestown era are the plantations & churches across the James river in Surrey county. (a ferry will take you & a car across). There was an article in the N.Y. Times travel section a year or more ago detailing visiting the churches.
