Hello, I am a PhD candidate at the University of Minnesota looking to submit a panel to the Urban Network at SSHA next November in Toronto, Canada. My work focuses on the development of a medical center in inner city Detroit after WWII, and tracks how this place that was constructed partially on the promise of better access to health care for the city's neediest residents further contributed to Detroit's inequity and racial tension; it essentially rendered black Detroiters invisible in both its construction and implementation. I am assembling a panel that looks at social welfare, public services and gentrification in 20th century urban spaces. If any part of your work aligns with this, please let me know. The theme for this years conference is "Inequalities: Politics, Policy, and the Past." If this seems like something you would be interested in, please contact me firstname.lastname@example.org. The abstracts are due on February 14, so I would need your abstract (to submit as a panel) by February 13. More information can be found about the SSHA conference at the organization's website:http://www.ssha.org/annual-conference Thanks! Looking forward to hearing from a few of you.
