Two questions have arisen about the change to Cambridge University Press. (1) Am I going to have the same problem that we had before with UIP about getting my life membership recognized? Answer: We hope not. We know who you are, and we're working with CUP to get your membership fitted into their system. They seem to more flexible than UIP, and they certainly are faster in answering correspondence. Life members need do nothing now. We're working on it. (2) How do I know when my annual membership expires? Answer: If you are not conscious that it expires on some date other than October 1, it probably expired on October 1. UIP took that as a "default date" for membership expirations, and we have no intention to change it. The CUP online payment system for us is not up yet, but you can renew by mail, fax, or email (if you want to trust your credit card number to email), by using the form that is available at: http://www.h-net.org/~law/ASLH/ASLHMembershipRenewalNotice.html Charlie Donahue
