With Respect Does Mr Avins' having been a segregationist make his work less reliable than that of an anti-segregationist? Or as, the reference to the publisher implies, is it that he took this view at a time when it was becoming rare and therefore can be asumed to have a strong emotional commitment? If so, would the work of an early abolitionist, who stood against a "mainstream" of acceptance of slavery, be as unreliable? Yours Sincerely, Alan E.
