This year, a new tour: "Ellenville: The Mountain and the Valley" -led by Irwin Richman : There will be an opening night event with a slide show of Catskills history, accompanied by live music, plus tribute by Mark Kutsher to Jack Landman on his 90th birthday and 58th year working at Kutsher's, plus Catskills Institute Tribute to Kutsher's on the hotel's 100th anniversary. Now in its thirteenth year, the conference is one of the major activities of the Catskills Institute, a 501-c-3 organization that works to preserve the Jewish experience in the Catskills. The Catskills Institute publishes the newsletter "In the Mountains," runs a website (http://catskills.brown.edu), coordinates research activities, and maintains the largest archive in the world of Jewish Catskills materials. Full conference fee is $60, pro-rated for partial attendance (members who join for $25 pay only $30). Bus tour additional $25. You can register at the conference, and if you want, registration forms are available on the website http://catskills.brown.edu. so you can fill in ahead of time (but don't mail them, since it is too late). You do not have to stay at the hotel to attend the conference. If you want to make hotel reservations, call Kutsher's at 800-431-1273 or (845) 794-6000, and visit their website at www.kutshers.com. Kutsher's offers one of the finest 18-hole golf courses, 12 all-weather and clay tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, state of the art fitness center, an ice-skating rink, as well as a sports complex for raquetball, handball, volleyball or basketball. Only a short walk from the hotel is Club Anawana, with water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and a host of other sports and recreational activities. Top performers entertain every night in the Stardust Club. Rates include three kosher meals daily, and begin at $113 per person, double occupancy, with a two-night minimum, and range up to $155 for the top level. All rooms have private bath, telephone, and television. Children sharing parent's rooms are $60 for ages 10-16 in main dining room and $40 for up to 9 years in junior dining room. Triple occupancy for a third adult is 80% of the regular rate. Tips, at $12.50/day, are added to the bill, in lieu of dining room and chambermaid tips.
