Sent: Thursday, August 09, 2007 6:17 PM The 2007 Southern Jewish Historical Society conference will take place November 2nd to 4th in Washington, DC. The title of the conference is "Honoring the Past for the Sake of the Future." Featured speakers include Karla Goldman (Jewish Women's Archives), who will place Jewish responses to Hurricane Katrina in historical perspective; Dianne Ashton (Rowan University) who will discuss the origins of American and particularly southern Hanukah celebrations; and Shuly Rubin Schwartz (Jewish Theological Seminary), who will compare and contrast the leadership styles of Carrie Simon and Henrietta Szold.
