Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2007 12:01 PM My book, Kabbalah and the Spiritual Quest: The Kabbalah Centre in America, will be available in August, 2007, published by Praeger. This is the first in-depth study of the Kabbalah Centre's history, beliefs, practices, and social organization. It does not address the impact of the Kabbalah Centre on contemporary life, and I am not aware of any study that does so, though Matt Goldish's thoughtful reflection on the subject in Tikkun Magazine, 2005, is a good start. Also see Boaz Huss, "Ask No Questions: Gershom Scholem and the Study of Contemporary Jewish Mysticism," Modern Judaism 25 (May 2005): 141-158; and his "All You Need is LAV: Madonna and Postmodern Kabbalah," The Jewish Quarterly Review 95 (Fall 2005): 611-624.
