The next application deadline is: 12 December 2011 The Historians of Islamic Art Association (HIAA) offers travel grants to graduate students who have been invited or accepted to present papers at an annual meeting of a professional society (usually those with which HIAA is affiliated*), as well as at HIAA’s own majlis and other scholarly conferences. Preference is given to papers to be presented at HIAA-sponsored panels. The travel grants are offered by application to graduate student members of HIAA only, and carry a maximum award of $500 each. * HIAA is currently an affiliated member of: the Middle East Studies Association, College Art Association, and Society of Architectural Historians. Applications must include: * A cover letter summarizing the application. * A separate sheet listing the applicant’s name; institutional affiliation and status (e.g., Ph.D. candidate, 3rd year); e-mail address; name of primary institutional advisor; conference title, dates and venue; paper title; itemized travel budget. * A letter of support from the student’s advisor. * Abstract of the paper to be presented. * The notification of acceptance from the conference/session organizer(s).
